ABOUT OUR CHURCH
Who Are We?
Live Oak Church of the Brethren is located in a beautiful park-like setting on three landscaped acres with its signature Live Oak Tree at the entrance. Established in 1911, the congregation has a long history of ministries of compassion, social justice, and concern for the environment. The Live Oak Church is one of 1,100 congregations of the Church of the Brethren, a worldwide denomination, which originated 300 years ago in Germany.
In 1977, the current site of the Live Oak Church of the Brethren opened its doors to the community. A project with years of planning and construction, the building was designed and built to serve a dual purpose. During the week, morning through evening, the building serves as the Live Oak Child Development Center, which can serve upwards of 100 children and is geared towards serving lower-income families. In the evenings and on weekends, the building is transformed and utilized for worship services, church meetings, events, and functions. This dual-purpose relationship and use of the building as served the church, the childcare center, and the community of Live Oak well over 40 years.
What is Our Mission?
Live Oak Church of the Brethren seeks to be a caring community called by Christ to glorify God; empowered by the Holy Spirit to express God’s love, serve our neighbors, and invite others to follow Christ in a life-changing way.
